Darren shares progress on Cheswick Village Parking

MP for Bristol North West, Darren Jones has updated constituents on the council’s plans to implement new parking restrictions in the Bristol City Council administered parts of Cheswick Village.

Darren said:

“Constituents who live in the south part of Cheswick Village have long been contacting the council and my office regarding escalating parking problems. Many of the cars are from employees of local businesses and students from UWE.

The two local councillors –  Estella Tincknell and Gill Kirk have been working relentlessly with UWE, local businesses, counterparts at South Glos. Council, the Mayor’s office and Transport Planners to make sure resident’s experiences have been heard and to come up with a workable scheme that prevents this dangerous and inconsiderate parking continuing.

That’s why I’m delighted the council are consulting on a new resident’s parking permit area and enhanced parking restrictions.

Hard-copy plans are available to view at Lockleaze Library in The Cameron Centre.

Residents have made it clear the situation had not improved since interventions from local councillors and over two year’s worth of meetings, so – given whole-scale double yellows would only prevent residents from also parking outside their home – parking permits for residents and some additional restrictions are the only avenue left to explore. These proposals offer the best opportunity to manage the parking challenges faced on a near-daily basis.

You can view the proposals and submit your comments before the 1st November here“.
