Darren asks the Government to fund local libraries in Bristol

Darren has written to the Department of Culture, Media and Sports using his first written question as an MP to ask for support to keep libraries open in Bristol.

In his question, Darren asked the Government to consider other pots of funding to transform libraries into digital community hubs. The Government responded saying that is continues to encourage local authorities to invest in libraries. But funding cuts to Bristol City Council are so severe that this is nearly impossible to do.

Darren will be organising further meetings on protecting libraries in Bristol. If you would like to be kept up to date on this work, please e-mail darren.jones.mp@parliament.uk.
