Darren Jones MP calls for community meeting on local ASB

Bristol North West Member of Parliament, Darren Jones, has today (31st August) met with Avon and Somerset’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Sue Mountstevens and Andy Bennett, Bristol Commander and discussed concerns regarding ASB in the Southmead area.

Darren said:

It is really important that I meet with Sue to discuss crime levels across Bristol North West, how the Police handle the huge demands upon their time and resources and the concerns constituents have raised with me, particularly anti-social behaviour. My team have been receiving a growing number of contacts from constituents raising concerns about rising levels of crime and anti-social behaviour in the Southmead area and the impact it is having on their day to day lives. The concerns have centered on reckless driving, dangerous use of mopeds, general ASB and vandalism.”
Darren continued “Sue and I discussed these concerns and the recent police action and use of dispersal powers in the area. I have asked that the local beat teams continue to work with the community to support residents and for a community meeting to be held with residents. And I have agreed to continue to apply pressure on the Government to properly fund our local police so that communities right across Bristol North West have a community policing presence fit for purpose.

Constituents of Bristol North West can contact Darren’s office by completing our ‘Contact Us’ form online, by emailing: darren.jones.mp@parliament.uk or telephoning 0117 959 6545. Because of security checks, all post should be sent to Darren Jones MP, House of Commons, London SW1A 0AA, it is then redirected to Bristol.
