Darren shares Iron Bridge Planning Application

Darren Jones, MP for Bristol North West, has shared details of the council’s planning application for the repair of the historic Iron Bridge in Shirehampton.

Darren said:

“From reading comments on the ‘Save the Iron Bridge’ Facebook group and the emails I’ve had, there are different views and preferences for how the bridge could have been fixed. However, given the time period the bridge has been out of action, alongside the council’s severely limited financial resources and advice on the feasibility of options from English Heritage, I sense any more-reasonable alternative is highly likely to be unfeasible or cost prohibitive or else the council would be pursuing it. Crucially, the new plans also ensure accessibility for those less able to walk-up steps or who need flat access for wheelchairs and push chairs.Let me know what you think of the plans and be sure to submit your comments on the council’s planning portal”.

You can view the application and make a comment, offer support or formally log your opposition to the plans here.
