Darren attends Remembrance Service in Shirehampton

Darren Jones, MP for Bristol North West, attended a Remembrance Day service in Shirehampton and laid a wreath at the village’s war memorial.

Darren said:

“It is always a huge honour and privilege to represent the people of Bristol North West on Remembrance Sunday – especially as we commemorate the hundred year anniversary of the end of the First World War. Last year, I attended a service at the Cenotaph in the city centre, whilst this year I attended the service at St Mary’s in Shirehampton followed by a procession to the war memorial on Penpole Lane where I laid a wreath and met local veterans. It’s important to me that I honour local people and the sacrifice they and their families made, so next year I have pledged to attend another local service in Westbury- on-Trym. It was truly heart-warming to see so many people of all ages attend yesterday’s service and a real honour for me to represent the area I grew-up in on such an important occasion”.
